GERMAN SHIPS SEIZED
ATLANTIC CAPTURES INTERNED AT FALKLANDS (Klee. Tel. Copyright-United Press Assn.) (Reed. Oct. 14, 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, Oct. 13. The Buenos Aires’ correspondent of the New York Times says it is reliably stated that several German merchantmen, which disappeared mysteriously on Monday are anchored at Port Stanley, Falkland Islands. There they have been dismantled and the crews interned. The British are no longer sinking captive ships as they did the Olinda on September 4, but are taking them all to Falkland Islands. Most of the German vessels, which escaped from Argentine, Uruguayan, Brazilian and Chilean ports, loaded with grain ,are reported to have been captured and taken to Falkland Islands.
The Washington correspondent of the New York Herald-Tribune says that the neutrality patrol reported that tankers which refuelled a submarine off Key West were Italian. The Neutrality Act was not violated because belligerents arc allowed 24 hours in American ports for refuelling and repairing.
