CANTERBURY COLLEGE DR. C. P. MCMEEKAN (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The second chair in agriculture- at Canterbury • Agricultural College, which has been vacant since the retirement of Professor F. W. Hilgendorf, has been filled by the appointment of Dr. C. P. McMeekan," B.Ag.Sc., N.Z., Ph.D., Cantab., who has been appointed professor of agriculture (animal husbandry).

Dr. McMeekan spent his early years on a farm and graduated B.Ag.Sc. at Massey College in 1931, being then appointed assistant lecturer in dairy husbandry- In 1936 he went to England to further his research activities and to widen his experience. He accepted an offer of facilities for research from Dr. John Hammond, F.R.S., at the animal research institute of the University of Cambridge, and completed two years’ postgraduate work there, being awarded Ph.D. for a report on specialised work on animal nutrition and physiology.
