May Run on Monday Since racing at the Avondale meeting the three-year-old Pern has got through a lot of solid work and is thriving on it. He has hardened in condition and will be an improved horse the next time he goes to the post. Pern is not engaged on the first day of the approaching meeting at Ellerslic, but may be given a race on the second day in the Normanby Handicap to be run over a mile. Progress of Valmint W. Fergus is keeping Valmint up to the mark and the chestnut gelding has seldom looked better. All going well in the interim, Valmint will contest the Spring Handicap to be decided on the concluding day of the coming meeting at Ellerslie. This event is to be run over a mile and a quarter ancl the distance will suit Valmint admirably.
