“STRAIGHT NEWS”

INFORMATION MINISTRY AIM OUTLINED (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 2.50 p.m. RUGBY, Oct. 11. In the course of discussion in the House of Commons on the activities of the Ministry of Information, the Lord Privy Seal, Sir Samuel Hoare, emphasised that the functions of the Ministry were those of publicity, rather than propaganda. “The last thing we want to do,” he said, “is to embark on any plan such as those in the totalitarian States for propaganda. It will be publicity and by that I mean straight news.”
