WHALE OFF SHORE

NINETY-MILE BEACH A whale was seen by residents of Ahipara off the Ninety-Mile Beach on Sunday. The huge black shape was seen moving across the bay a long way out to sea. and at was first mistaken for a fishing boat. The whale spent- half an hour or more rolling about in the bay like ■a huge porpoise. After a while it twice leaped right out of the water and landed back again with tremendous force. It is a very rare sight to see a live whale so far north.
