RADIO CUT OFF

PROTEST IN PRESBYTERY MINISTER’S ADDRESS PRINCIPLES INVOLVED (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. The cutting off of an address being broadcast from St. Matthews Church on September 21 by the Rev. Gladstone Hughes led to a protest in the Auckland Presbytery last night. “I think it is time we stood up to these things,” said Mr. Hughes. 1-Ie said he had been informed that Ministers were not allowed to make any comments on politics or international affairs. They would all agree with the principle that the pulpit was not the place to discuss party politics, or perhaps the intricacies of international affairs, but it raised the right to comment on the moral and spiritual aspects of politics and international affairs.
