OLD RESIDENT’S DEATH

MRS. ELIZA DEVER 65 YEARS IN DISTRICT The death this morning of Mrs. Eliza never, widow of the late Mr. Samuel Dever, at the age ot 87 years removed from Gisborne one of the early settlers of the district. At the time of her death Mrs. Dever was living with a daughter, Mrs. R. Bryce, Maltauri. and had been ailing for the past. year. The deceased was born in Donegal, Ireland, and was married in her home town before coining to Gisborne 65 years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Dover were engaged in farming at Patutahi and Makaraka until the death of Mr. Dever 11 years ago. Mrs. Dever will be remembered in those districts for her many kindly acts, being devoted to iter church and always willing- to assist necessitous cases materially and spiritually. There was a family of 12, of whom four sons and three daughters remain So mourn their loss. Mrs. Dever lived to see the birth of 29 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The surviving sons and daughters are Mr. .1. Dever, Patutahi, Mr. S. Dover. Wairoa, Mr. YV. A. Dover, Te Karaka, Mr. A. T. Dover, Waireka, Wairoa, and Mrs. R. Bryce, Makauri, Mrs. C. H. Tidswell, Ruatalninga, and Mrs. O. Parker, Pongaroa. A service will he conducted at 1.45 p.m. to-morrow tit the residence of Mrs. Bryce, Makauri, prior to the funeral leaving for the Patutahi cemetery.
