DEATH IN ENGLAND : MR. ROBERT S. SIEVIER ! (Reed. Oct. 9, 1 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 8. ! The death has occurred of Mr. Robert Standish Sicvier, journalist. ; author, playwright, and sportsman. J The late Mr. Sievier, who was 79 years of age, served in the Kaffir and | Zulu wars, and afterwards went on | the stage. Later, he owned race j horses, winning races in all parts of ! the world, including Africa, Australia and India. He bought the yearling filly by the late King George's sire, Persimmon, out of Ornament at 10,000 mis., the largest sum over given for a yearling. This (illy, which he named Sceptre, made a record by winning four out of five classic races. Her 1 owner trained her and was the only i owner-trainer ever to have headed ; the winning list of owners.
