HIGH SCHOOL COMMITTEE PARTY ARRANGED (Humid Correspondent.) At the monthly meeting of the Te Karaka District High School Committee there were present: Mr. C. Mills, chairman, Mrs. R. Stephenson. Messrs. T. M. Askew, C. G. Atkins, T. L. Earnshaw. J. W. Nisbett, P. Hardacre, and R. Stephenson. Advice was received that the Hawke’s Bay Education Board had granted £35 towards the cost of a new lawn mower. The headmaster’s report stated, inter alia: “It is proposed to hold a garden party on Friday. October 13, when parents and friends will be invited to the school, and there will be arranged a programme of activity designed te give parents some insight into the work of the school. If it is possible lor members of the committee to be there, it would present an opportunity of enrolling members for the Home and School Association. “During the interim between the winter and summer sportes it is proposed to organise a programme of athletics both for primary and secondary pupils. This will consist of track events, high jump, long jump, and hop, skip and jump. Mrs. E. Bradley, Te Karaka, is spending a holiday with her mother, Mrs. L. Taylor, Opoutama.—Miss E. M. Blott made a brief visit to Opoutama this week. —Miss Jean Rowe, Te Karaka, and Miss Audrey Anderson, ICanakanaia, were the week-end guests of Mrs. J. V. Castles, Kanakanaia.
