WORK AT PARK
OKAWA IMPRESSIVE SPRINT WITH MIMICRY SLY FOX FOR AUCKLAND By “Trenton” A fast five furlongs by Okawa and Mimicry was easily the best effort at the Park this morning. The track, which is getting a little on the dry side, was very fast. A number of horses were worked before breakfast. Sly Fox went very evenly over five furlongs to register I.4sec for the distance. He is in great heart to tackle his Mitelielson Cup engagement and will leave for Auckland on Monday. • Pennyconiequick and Mendelssohn took 1.3 2-ssec. for the same distance and, as neither is a good track work- ’ er, it was a good gallop. Royal Stuart was the remaining horse to work before breakfast and he was schooled over the brush fences which he cleared in fine style. After Breakfast Plenteous did two rounds of pace work on the plough and is in fine fettle. Lovelilt. was not asked to go fast over a round of five hurdles. She cleared her fences well, but was inclined to run out slightly. Rough Passage recorded 38 2-5 sec. for three furlongs after a slow beginning. Minnow was under a steady pull to cover tiie same distance in 39 sec. Waikawa was restricted to slow pace work. Raana was going easily alongside Kalniroa at tile end of live in 1.5 1-5 sec. Kincarolo and ICintyre did two rounds on the plough. Kinarikl was too good for Millions over three furlongs in 37 1-5 see. The most impressive gallop of the morning was live furlongs by Okawa and Mimicry in 1.0 4-5 sec. They got to the end of two furlongs in 24 sec. and three in 35 4-5 sec., and were together throughout, although Okawa was doing tiie better at the end.
