ITALIAN NEUTRALITY
AS FIRM AS A ROCK WASHED HANDS OF WAR (Reed. Oct. 7, 11.30 a.m.) NElty YORK, Oct. 5. A dispatch from the Rome correspondent of the New York Times states that Italy appears at least temporarily to have washed her hands of the war. This does not mean she is not watching an opportunity to resume the peace p fronts. Whatever Herr Hitler says to-mor-row, Italy’s neutrality stands as firm as a rock, and only radically altered circumstances «will change her attitude. It can be expected that Herr Hitler’s speech will contain generalities and not specific peace proposals.
