! MATAWHERO STOCK SALE j ! HOGGETS IN DEMAND ! High prices ruled again to-day for beef at the weekly sale at the Matawhero saleyards. Extra good heavy Jersey cows made £7 and £6 3s, and good average Jerseys £4 17s. Here- : ford cows realised £8 and £7, but only 13 head were yarded. Cows Prices. —Two, Hereford, £8; 2. Shorthorn-Hereford, lighter than the last, £7; 3, Jersey, £4 17s; 1, heavy prime Jersey brindle, £8 10s; 1, medium Jersey, £4 Is; 1, prime Jersey, £7 3s; T, good Jersey, £5 17s Gd; 1, good Jersey, £G; 1, 211-year Jersey heifer, £4 10s. * . Fat Sheep Only GO fat sheep were ollered, but the sale was brisk at advanced values, ewes making from 17s Gd to 22s 9d and extra good hoggets, 21s 3d. Prices: — Ewes.-—Five at 17s Gd; IG, at 20s 4d; G, at 20s; 2, at 22s 9d; 4, at 22s Gd; 2, at 20s; 7, shorn 4-tooth wethers, one wanted' topping off, 15s Id; 4, prime heavy Southdown hoggets, 21s 3d; 2, heavy wethers, 245; 3 hoggets. 21s. Store Sheep « The yarding of store sheep totalled approximately GOO, mostly hoggets, and in a brisk sale values again imj proved, first-class lines making 17s | and 17s 3d and fairly good 14s and j 14s Id. Good solid Southdown hog- | gets made 15s Gd and ewes and lambs Ito 18s lOd. Shorn store ewes, with ! good mouths, made from 10s Gd to 12s 9d. Hoggets—Two hundred and ten. good size, shorn as lambs, with condition, 17s; 83, from Otoko, same description, 17s 3d; 44, fairly good size and condition, 14s; 53, a medium iot, little wool. 14s Id. Southdown Hoggets'—'Fifteen, big and good, 15s Gd. Ewe Hoggets. — Forty-three, a medium lot, 15s 7d. Ewes and lambs. —Six, in good order ewes and six ewe lambs, lGs 7d; 3G, medium-conditioned ewes and 38 good lambs, 18s lOd; 5, shorn, medium conditioned ewes and five good lambs, 14s 4d. Store Ewes.—-Seventeen, good store condition, 10s; 25, shorn, forward, good teeth, 12s 9d; 7, shorn, store condition, and young, 10s Gd.
