INSTITUTE CONCERT

TAMARAU DRAMA CIRCLE CHILDREN ENTERTAINED Children and adults found a variety of entertainment at a concert held recently in the Kaiti Hall, Oman road, the programme having been organised by the drama circle of the Tamarau Women’s Institute. The children of institute members occupied the first half of the programme, and several clever soloists Showed their capabilities. Mrs. J. R. Elliott was at the piano and the phlitfren’s items included those by Joyce Gray, “A Pocket Full of Dreams"; Valerie Gray, “The Little General”; Dorothy Tucker, Ida Rhodes, Joyce Parkins, “The Penny Serenade’, Rae Clements, Jocelyn Clements, Edna Tester, Edith Turbitt, “Little Gray Home in the West”; Phyllis Legg, Nancy Campbell, “If I Were You”; Beth Penny, ."Hiking”; Mary Campbell, Agnes Elliott, “Me and Ma Little Banjo”; Shirley Franklin, tap dance; Cynthia Tucker, Margaret Green, Ivan Gray, Vernon Hall, “A Penny”; Ramsay Tucker, Jim Wicks, Jim Gordon, Webber Edwards, harmonica solos: Colin Nunns, trum-

pet solo, “Angeline,” and a song, “Waltzing Matilda”; Alan Chapman. During the interval sweets were sold to augment the funds and the curtain was raised to reveal the stage set for a humorous one-act play, “The Green Monkey,” produced by Mrs. Elliott. The players were Mesdames Gray and Forman, Miss Marion Hitchings, and Messrs. 11. E. Lord, J. R. Elliott, and Fred Kortc. Other items included a bracket of enjoyable pianoforte solos by Miss Nancy Campbell, dancing by Misses Nola, Audrey, and Shirley Illingworth, Mihi Swann, and Gabrielle Nbssiter, all Miss Tua Smith’s pupils, songs by Mr. Venables, duets, "The Indian Love Call” and “Brahm's Lullaby,” by Miss Joyce Gray and Mr. J. R. Elliott; a recitation by Mr. Korte, and a shadowgraph', “Bloodless Surgery,” by Messrs. H. E. Lord and Elliott, and Miss Marion Calcott.
