Retail shop assistants and factory employees will have a long week-end this month, Labour Day falling on Monday, October 23, and prolonging the usual week-end to two and a half days or three days, according to whether the employees affected now enjoy the five-clay week or whether they work on S*turday mornings. General labourers and skilled workers In many other lines of trade will be entitled to receive either a holiday or additional wages, at the rate of time and a half, for such work as they may be employed to perform on Labour Day.
