Chief of Staff of the Now Zealand Military Forces, said yesterday, will be on the slopes of Mount Ruapehu, 1(> miles north of Taihapo. “Brigade training will also be carried out during the period allowed at Waiouru," said Major-General Duigan. His description of Waiouru was a “marvellous training area, suitable for all arms of the service." A huge area of tussock land would be used. The climate is exhilarating and bracing at night at an altitude of more than 2000 ft. _ ■ Part of the land had been used in the past, said Major-General Duigan, by the northern, and central military districts as an artillery range and for field firing by other arms of the service. The land was eminently suitable for brigade training, where the higher leaders would have the opportunity of exercising their commands under the direction otithe general staff. Waiouru would be a "tented” camp, he said.
