GOOD JERSEY SALE
AVERAGE OF £2O/8/6 CLUB’S SECOND BEST DEMAND FROM COAST Although prices were lower than last year at yesterday’s sale of pedigree Jersey bulls held by the Poverty Bay Jersey Cattle Club, the average was the second best the club has achieved in its 10 years’ existence. Of 41 bulls catalogued, 31 were sold at an average of £2O 8s 6d. Last year 34 were sold out of a total offering of 55, when the average price, £26 Os 4d, constituted a record for the club. A few of those catalogued for yesterday’s sale did not come forward, so ihat the actual passings were very few. A feature of tile sale was a strong demand from the East Coast, the Native Department, Tikitiki, and the Ngatiporou Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, between them absorbing the bulk of the offering, while individual farmers from the Coast were also operating. The Highest Average There were no higher prices than ,he 34gns. secured twice by Mr. E. R. Bull, as reported in yesterday’s Herald. The four lots sold toy Mr. Bull averaged 30gas., the highest for the sale, the next highest toeing 26£gns. secured by Mrs. L. Haskins. The largest offering at the sale came from Messrs. W. J. Olley and Sons, who brought 13 bulls forward, selling all but one. Average prices secured at the annual sales since 1932 are given below:
