PATUTAHI NEWS
The monthly meeting of the Patutahi Gardening Circle was held at the residence of Mrs. F. A. Lange. Mrs. E. R. Renner occupied the chair. Gardening activities for the coming month were discussed, and the roll call brought forth many helpful gardening hits. It was decided to purchase choice, chrysantehmums for distribution among members. Mrs. J. Atkins proposed a/ hearty vote of thanks to Mrs. E. R. Renner for staging the circle exhibit at the gardening display in Gisborne, at which the circle gained second prize. Two new members were welcomed, Mesdames W. Bryson and D. Eade. The next meeting will be held at the residence of Mrs. J. Atkins. The competition, specimen bloom, resulted:—Mrs. R. J. Eade and Mrs. G. Scragg, 1; Mrs. L. -Sefton, 2 ; Mrs. 11. Ritchie, 3. Afternoon tea wag served and members enjoyed a stroll round the beautiful garden and well-kept lawns. Mrs. Lange had as guests members of the Gisborne Gardening Circle and the Matawhero P.W.M.U. On behalf of Patutahi members, Mrs. Renner thanked Mrs. Lange for the enjoyable afternoon. The hoestess was also thanked by Mrs. Johnstone on behalf of the town visitors, and by Mrs. S. Wells for. the P.W.M.U. Mr. Ivor Lange, who has recently returned from Australia, has been spending a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Lange. He has left again for Hawke’s Bay. A merry party was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. F. Habgood on Monday evening, as a send-off to Mr. N. Gordon, who left with the first contingent for Trentham. A presentation was made by Mr. R. Tansley on behalf of those present. Mr. Gordon suitably replied.
