LAW IN EARLY DAYS

A description of the establishment of law in New Zealand and the sitting of the first Supreme Court in Auckland was given by Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., at the Hamilton Rotary Club. The Maoris, he said, were greatly impressed with the absolute fairness with which justice was adt. ministered at the first sitting of the court, and this did much to reconcile them to the measures adopted for the i observance of British law.
