SILENT CROWDS

AUCKLANDERS’ PARADE (Pm- Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Preceded by the band of the First Battalion of the Auckland Regiment, the men who have enlisted in Auckland for the infantry battalion marched down Queen street this morning to entrain for Ngaruawahia, but the crowds on the sidewalks were strangely silent. The men, who were in mufti, were of a good stamp and were cheerful in anticipation of the coming adventures. Further detachments leave this evening for Trcntham and Burnham camps.
