RUAKOKORE THEFT
POSTMISTRESS’ LAPSE
ADMITTED TAKING £360
The postmistress at Raukokore for the past 14 years, Nora Warrington, aged 54, single, admitted the theft of £260 2s when she appeared yes:erday before Messrs. J. J. Moody and H G. Skipper, J.P.’s in the Opotiki police Court and, after the hearing of evidence was committed to Auckland for sentence.
The orosecution was conducted by Detective-Sergeant R. H. Waterson, Gisborne.
Inquiries were instituted recently when it was noticed that there was i substantial shortage in the office balance, and the accused was charged with the theft as a Government servant.
Since the theft the office has been closed at Raukokore and reopened it Waihau Bay.
