MRS. AUGUSTA BULST

EARLY MATAWAI SETTLER The. death occurred on Saturday of Mrs. Augusta Wilhelmina Bulst, widow of the late Mr. Julius Bulst, and one of the early settlers in the Matawai district. The deceased was much respected throughout the country area.

Born in Germany 79 years ago, Mrs. Bulst came to New Zealand at the age of 14 years, and three years later was married in Marion. She and her husband came to the Gisborne district while the back country in the Waikohu County was being opened up, and they secured a section at Matawai, where they had lived ever since. Mrs. Bulst, who is survived by two sons and three daughters, had not enjoyed good health since the death of her husband a little time ago. Her burial took place yesterday at the Taruheru cemetery.
