PEOPLE OF GERMANY AN AMERICAN VIEW FEARS OF HITLER FLAWS IN ARMOUR (Reed. Oct. 2, 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 29. According to the Paris correspondent of the New York Times, the preliminary stage of the war may be considered ended. It has shown that the German Army is a swift and terrible weapon and that Britain and France are undisputed masters of the sea, despite the first outburst of German submarine successes. The British and French air forces have proved that they can more than hold their own with the Germans. The question seems to be who will tire first. It undoubtedly will be the German people. Herr Hitler, it is believed, does not wish to attack the Maginot Line or to seek other means of invasion for other reasons than his eft-proclaimed love of peace. There are flaws in Germany’s armour which even the accord with Russia is insufficient to mend, one of which is that the system Herr Hitler has built is most personal and he realises that the willingness of the Germans to make sacrifices depends on their continued belief in a Hitler Germany.
