PEACE SERVICES
HOLY TRINITY FULL “LOVE THINE ENEMIES” *CAUSE OF CHRISTIANITY Holy Trinity Church was almost full last night on the occasion of the special intercession service for peace. There were few vacant pews, and. the congregation was estimated to be the largest this year. The special prayers set for the occasion were read 1 by the vicar, Canon A. F. Hall. In his address, the vicar took for his text the 27th. verse in the 20th. chapter of St. Matthew: “And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant.” An appeal was made for greater service on the part of all in the cause of Christianity, and occasion was taken to impress upon the congregation the injunction to “Love thine enemies.” Canon Hall said it was not only necessary to forgive one’s enemies. but also to love them. He admitted that the task was difficult, and he wondered how the congregation would react if Herr Hitler walked into the church and took his seat among them. Yet, in service, one »was required often do something that might appear distasteful.
