Last Night’s Forecast General Situation: There has been little change in the situation since yesterday. Anti-cyclones are centred east of the North Island and over New South' Wales, respectively, while a weak depression is remaining stationary in the north-west Tasman Sea. Forecast; Winds, north-easterly predominating in the Auckland province, elsewhere varying between north-west and south-west, fresh at times from Cook Strait; southwards; otherwise moderate. Seas: In New Zealand waters, moderate to rather rough at times on the West Coast south of Cape Egmont and about Cook and Foveaux Straits, slight to moderate elsewhere. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to fresh north-east winds in the northern portion and west to south-west in the southern; spas moderate. Weather: For the most part fair to fine, some rain at times, however, in western and southern districts of the South Island, and conditions gradually becoming unsettled also in North Auckland. Temperatures: Moderate to mild. To-Day’s North Island Report The barometric pressure on the East Coast was very high this morning, the pressure 'having risen sharply during the week-end. Blue skies- were reported south of Auckland, but conditions were overcast at Auckland •and points further north. Southeasterly winds, light in force, were general and the sea was mainly smooth. Gisborne was the warmest spot at 9 o’clock with a reading of GO degrees. Other temperatures were: Cape Maria Van Diemen, 58; Opotiki and Napier, 57; Tauranga, 56; and Auckland, 53 Midday Forecast General Situation: An intense anticyclone is- centred over the South Island ancl a very weak disturbance is located in the northern Tasman Sea. Forecast: Light to moderate southerly winds later becoming variable. Weather: Fair to fine, milder day temperatures but possibly some tight frosts to-night. Slight seas.
