FATE OF GOEBBELS
ALLEGED INTERNMENT FOREIGN I INVESTMENTS (Reed. Sept. 30, 2 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 20. The Stockholm correspondent of the Petit Parisieo declares that Dr. Goebbels is at present interned in a Berlin sanitorium on a charge of smuggling out currency. It is reliably reported that a Swiss employee of the Zurich branch office of Dr Goebbels’ newspaper Angriff entered Germany, where he posted 2700 letters addressed to the branch office, ostensibly in reply to an advertisement. As a result of Dr. Goebbels’ order, letters addressed to the Angriff must not be opened. Swiss frontier employees collected the letters at Zurich. They ' contained 5,000,000 marks. The German authorities are still collecting information in an attempt to disprove Mr. IT. R. Knickerbocker’s story of Nazi investments in foreign countries. ,
They claim that the director of the Nipponninko Bank telegraphed that the bank does accept private deposits. Germans therefore contend it is ridiculous and say Goebbels deposited foreign currency with it.
