Mr. Ormond Wilson, formerly M.P. for Rangitilcei, returned to London in August, after a visit to Russia. Dr. W. S. Robertson has been appointed full-time orthopaedic surgeon to the Wellington Public Hospital. Sir George Shirtcliffe has returned to Wellington with Lady Shirtcliffe, after seven weeks’ holiday in New Guinea. \
Mr. Charles A. Winn, who has been Dunedin manager for Wrigglesworth and Binns for the past 16 years of his 26 years' service with the firm, is resigning at the end of the month for health reasons.
Mr. A. E. Barker, Hastings, is the latest member of the Hawke’s Bay and East Coast Aero, Club to be called up for service with the Royal New Zealand Air Force. Mr., Barker has been a prominent member of the club, and one of its most competent pilots. For the past, five years he has been a member of the executive.'*■> He is the fifth member, of the club to join the force this month.
The Rev. Father Leo. D. Spring, S.M., who has been attached to me Napier parish for over three years, has received advice that his offer of service as chaplain has been accepted by the provincial of the Marist Order in New Zealand.
The opportunity was taken at the Athletic Football Club’s dinner in Wairoa on Thursday evening to farewell the Rev. C. E. Hyde, president of the club and chairman of the Wairoa County Rugby Sub-Union,' and also Mr. R. Goodley, a member of the club, who will leave next week to take up their duties with the New Zealand forces. On behalf of the club, the captain, Mr. B. Parkinson, presented Mr. Hyde with a travelling outfit, while Mr. H. S. Nightingale, treasurer of the Rugby sub-union, presented the chairman with a fountain pen. Mr. W. H. Flint presented Mr. Goodley with a pocket wallet.— Special.
