Cabled advice that their son, Midshipman John Clutha Casey, was killed while undergoing flying training, has been received by Mr. ana Mrs. J. P. Casey, Wallace Place, New Plymouth. Mr. Jobn-Casey was 21 years of age and. was, an old boy of the New Plymouth Boys’ High School. He lef. school to join the Royal Air Force, shd after' preliminary training at Mnngere aerodrome, Auckland, he went to England in August, 1938, ana was appointed to the Fleet Air Arm. •'With the "Fleet Air Arm he did his first ' training - on HiS Majesty’s air-craft-carrier Hermes and later served foi- a period on the recentlytorpedoed aircraft - carrier Courageous. From the Courageous he was transferred for special training.
