The death has occurred at Seatoun, Wellington, of Mr. W. Magill, who was formerly editor of the Police Gazette. Mr. Magill was bom in Ireland in 1850 and joined the Armed Constabulary in New Zealand in 1882. He was stationed successively at Gisborne, Napier, New Plymouth and Wellington, and in 1900 lie was attached to the commissioner’s office as editor of the Police Gazette, a position which he held until his retirement on account of ill health in, 1913. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 1903. Mr. Magill’s wife died _ some years ago, and there is no family.
