N.Z. MILITARY FORCE GISBOR NE ENR OEM ENTS MEN FOR BRITISH ARMY Though the main stream of voluntary enlistments has been dealt with so far as the Gisborne district is concerned, the Army authorities are dealing .still with recruits in fair numbers, and there should be a good list ready for the day when a further quota is required from this area. A number of men, most of them bevond the age limit set for service in the New Zealand forces, arc registering for service with the British army or navy, in specialised groups. These are indicated in the following list, which covers all the enlistments since Wednesday:— Haenga, Jerry, single, 22 years, Ruatoria. labourer. Sutherland, Frederick Wallace, single, 25 years, 2 Haldane street, Gisborne, butcher. East, Leslie Osborne, 111 Peel street, Gisborne, builder (service in British naval or military forces). Gaukrodger, Charles, jun., married. 25 years, Whatatutu, shepherd. Birch, George, single, 279 Kahutia street, Gisborne, engineer (for service in British forces). Hammond, Henry Robert, single, 33 years, 469 Palmerston road, Gisborne, labourer. Bartrom, Albert Alfred, single, Peel street, Gisborne, company manager (for ser’vice in British forces). Hughes, William James Trevor, married, 25 Cobden street, Gisborne, garage attendant (for service in British forces). Phipps, William Arthur, married. 33 years, P. 0., Bartletts, painter. McLean, Frederick William, single. 31 years, Otoko, shepherd. Paterson, Andrew Holme, single, 27 years, Makomako station, Tokomaru Bay, station hand. McLean, Abraham, marrier, 22 years, Tokomaru Bay, labourer. Babbington, Dave, single, 25 years, Hicks Bay, labourer. Ehau, Tangihaere, single, 26 years, Kakarau, Ruatoria, labourer.
