The presence of Russian divisions on the border of Bessarabia (north-eastern Rumania) is reported to have been causing anxiety as to the Soviet Government’s intentions towards this Balkans kingdom. The map shows Rumania’s vulnerable position in relation to Russia now that the Red Army is established in the Polish Ukraine (the Polish salient between Hungary and the U.S.S.R.). The Ukraine also includes portion of Bessarabia.
