Members of the Poverty ©ay Electric-Power Board to-day welcomed back to the board-table Mr. B. J. HoldSworth, a Waikohu County representative, who during recent months had been abroad.
Major-General Sir John Davidson, K.C.M.G., has been appointed deputychairman of the board of directors of Dalgety and Company, Limited, according to'advice received by the New Zealand superintendent of the company.
Mr. A. Hemstock, who until he retired a few years ago was controller of the Post Office Savings Bank of England, accompanied by Mrs. Hemstock, spent last evening in Gisborne on route to Auckland, where they join a steamer on their return to England, Mr, and Mrs. Hemstock had intended to make a lengthy tour of New Zealand, but the outbreak of war necessitated an early return to London, where Mir. Hemstock has to take up the duties of deputy air warden of one of London’s outlying districts.
