LOYAL TE REINGA LODGE
DISTRICT OFFICERS VISIT TO WAIROA The annual visit of the district officers of the Manchester Unity Oddfellows to the Loyal Te Reingn Lodge, Wairoa, was paid on Tuesday, the following district officers being present:—The grand master, Bro. Whnrmby; deputy grand master, Bro. Robinson; district secretary, Bro. G. C. Law; district treasurer, Bro. J. Williamson.
The district grand master apologised for the absence of the New Zealand grand master, Bro. N. B. Bellringer, and the New Zealand deputy grand master. Bro. J. N. McKay. The noble grand, Bro. F. A. Ellis, was in the chair. The district officers congratulated Te Reinga on winning the Membership Cup last year. The secretary said lie had taken out a graph of membership of all Hawke’s Bay ledges, and ■Te Reinga lodge compared more than favourably with many of the others. The graph was, and had been at most times, in the ascendant.
The question of enlistment for war service was dealt with, members being requested to notify their lodge secretary immediately upon enlisting. This was most important to members. An assurance was given that a close investigation of the past history under similar tribulations had been carried out, and facts marshalled to co-ordinate a policy of protection and preservation was being prepared. During the evening Bro. Wharmbv presented the N.G. with his purple degree certificate. Bro. Wharmby. congratulating Bro .Ellis, pointed out the benefit derived by members personally in going through the chairs, apart from the service rendered the lodges. Brothers A. G. Allen and U. M Christensen were reported to be stU' sick.
