NEW ENROLMENTS
GISBORNE’S RECRUITING TOTAL NOW NEAR 450 Though the flow of recruits has steadied up noticeably in the Gisborne district, the total registered to date is almost as large as the whole of the quota required from Gisborne, Napier, Hastings, and as far south as Waipuluirau. To-day the Army Department’s officers in Gisborne registered the 448th recruit. Those enrolled since the publication of yesterday’s list comprise the following:—
Pokai, Ratiwira, single, 28 years, c/o T. Craill, Gentle Annie, labourer.
Pistor, Charles Adair, single, 29 years, 305 Clifford street, Gisborne, blacksmith. Putaranui, Tere Orikena, married, 23 years, Nuhaka, fencer. Bougen, Arthur, single, 21 years, Makomako station, Tokomaru Bay, station hand.
Hamilton, David Alexander, single, 23 years, Makomako station, Tokomaru Bay, shepherd. Te Kawa, George, single, 23 years, Wai-o-mata'tini, labourer.
Smyth, Ewan, single, 30 years, Raupunga, station manager. MaeKenzie, William Hilton, single, 33 years, Broadlands, Tolaga Bay, fanner.
