FAT SHEEP RATES RISE PIC! PRICES FIRM ADDINGTON MARKET • (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. . There were again small entries in the principal sections at the Addington stock sale yesterday and there was a ris§. in the value's of fat sheep, but these were still not up to those at the end of August. Fat cattle rates were firm on last week, with an increase for better sorts. Among the store sheep, a line of quality ewe hoggets sold at 265, small and backward-at 12s Id, and pens of ewes and lambs at from 5s 6d to 13s 9d.

About 3500 fat sheep were yarded, compared with 4000 last week. Generally values were 2s to 2s '6d a head better than last week. ; Extra prime heavy wethers made to 47s 4d, prime heavy 38s to 425, prime; medium, 32s 6d to 37s ed, light 21s to 265; extra prime heavy ewes to 44s 7d, ? prlmd heavy 31s to 355, prime medium 27s 6d to 30s 6d, light 18s to {22s. ......

In the fat cattle, section 330 , were entered, compared with- the normal yarding of about 500. - Primer qualities advanced to 20s a. head and medium to 10s a head. Extra prime heavy steers pnade to £25 12s 6d, prime heavy £lB 15s to £2O 10s, prime medium £l7 to £lB 10s, light £lO 15s to £l3 10s; extra prime heifers to £2O 2s 6d, prime £l4 to £l6 10s, medium £l3 ss, light £lO to £ll 15s; extra prime cows to £l7 7s' 6d, prime £l2 5s to £l4 ss, medium £lO 5s to £l2, light £8 10s to £lO. In the pig section there was a slightly smaller yarding of . porkers and values were firm on last week’s rates. Choppers came forward in medium numbers, and there was another keen sale. More baconers were penned and the sale was again excellent at last week’s values. Choppers made from- £3 18s 6d to £7 8s 6d, and porkers,£2 7s 6d to £3 4s 6d, the average price being 7Jd to B§d per lb. Baconers made from. £3 9s 6d to £5 17s 6d, the average price' being 7d to 8d per lb.
