PHARMACY BILL TERMS
PROPRIETARY MEDICINES NOT ON DRUG' LIST HERBALISTS EXEMPTED (Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. 'Proprietary medicines are excluded from the list of drugs which, under the terms of the Pharmacy Bill, may only be sold by registered pharmacists.
Reporting on the measure to the House of Representatives, the Public Health Committee stated it had received an assurance from the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, that this committee would be consulted before any change was made in tire provisions of the law relating to proprietary medicines, though the bill, as reported, empowers the Minister to make changes in this respect after giving notice in the Gazette.
The committee recommended that the bill be allowed to proceed with some amendments, the most important being that persons exempted from the restrictive provisions in respect to the sale of drugs will include any person who, at the commencement of the Act, was a member of the New Zealand Association of Medical Herbalists.
