CONTROL OF TENNIS
TITIRANGI CLUB CREDIT BALANCE SHOWN PROS I’HOTS FOR SEASON Despite a tailing oil' in membership members oi the Titirangi Tennis Club were able to show a credit balance for last season, this position being due to the work of the executive and the loyal support given by members. The annual report, to be presented to members at the annual meeting on October 4. points out that during the oil-season considerable work was carried out on the courts and it is anticipated that they will be in excellent playing condition this season. The finances of the club are in a very sound position as, despite . a failing oil' in membership and increased rent to meet, the committee, with careful management, has been able to wind up with a credit balance of £ls His sd. New plant has been provided ar.d plant and tennis nets have been overhauled.
Inter-club matches were played against Marist, Te Karaka, Manutuke and Kia Ora. all games proving to be very enjoyable. A deciding match with Te Karaka was played at the Poho-o-Rawiri courts, Titirangi winning by 20 matches to 11, one game being unplayed. The previous match at Te Karaka had been won by the latter club on a count of 172 games to 161, matches and sets being even.
Club Championships
Club championships were won as follows:—Men’s Singles Championship, Svmes Cup: P. Kaua. Ladies' Singles Championship, Taiuv.vhiti Cup’: Mrs. A. ball. Ladies' Doubles Championship, Poho-o-Rawiri Cup: Mt-sdames A. Ball and K. R. Waite. Combined Doubles Championship, W’m. T. Pitt Memorial Cup: P. Kaua and Mrs. K. R. Waite. Titirangi oiayers performed 'with distinction ~n the Poverty Bay and East Coast inter-club championship and in district championship and handicap events.
Trophies are now available for each club championship event, as well as the Handicap combined doubles. ■Mr. Louis Cooper is thanked for his donation of a trophy for club competition. >
