WORLD’S FAIR CEREMONIES

MANY TOURISTS LIKELY

Six thousand visitors to the New York World’s Fair joined with the New Zealand colony in the celebration of Dominion Day. The United States army and navy marines paraded.

The official party called on the Mayor of New York, Mr. F. H. La Guardia and Federal and fair officials.

The official party comprised the New Zealand Commissioner and Mrs. Firth, Mr. Ray Johhston, president of the newly-formed New Zealand Society of New York, Sir Charles and Lady Norwood, the British Con-sul-General, Mr. Godfrey Haggard, the receptionist at the New Zealand pavilion, Miss Bathie Stuart. On behalf of the World’s Fair, Mr. J. C. Holmes forecast an increase in the number of tourists to visit New Zealand as a result of the publicity at the fair and the cutting ofif of Americans from Europe.
