LICENSES FOR IMPORTS FIRST HALF OF 1940 (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. In a statement last night, the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, said that while it was not possible, owing to war conditions, to determine immediately the basis of allocations of import licenses for the first half ot the year 1940, the matter was under continuous examination and every effort was being made to fix the allocations at the earliest possible date.
