LABOUR PARTY DANCE P. W.D. CANDIDATE A GUEST (Herald Correspondent.) A most successful dance organised by the Kopuawhara branch of the Labour Party was held at the No. 3 Y.M.C.A. Hall last Thursday night. With an excellent night and the music of the Coutts-Chesley pianoaccordion band, a good crowd was attracted. The guest of the evening was Miss Kathleen Foley, Tuai, who is the Public Works Department candidate for the Wairoa queen carnival.

The winners of the Monte Carlo were Mr. C. R. Tamm and Mrs. G. 11. Couper, while the streamer dance was won by Mr. P. Tc Ngaio and Mrs. R. Nathan, The cake donated by Osier’s was won by Mr. .1. Hutchison, and (lie hand-worked duchess set presented bv Mrs. C. Tamm was won by Mr. W. Boyle, Nuhaka. Messrs. It. Nathan and C. W. Gorkin made capable M.Cs., while Mr. J. Otene contributed extras. Scouts’ Summer Activities

At a meeting of the committee of the Ist Kopuawhara Scout group, there were present Mr. J. Hilliard, chairman, Mrs. E. M. Gumming, lion, sec., Mrs. E. Hunter, Mrs, F. Pemberton, and Messrs. C. W. Corkin, J. Highet and G. A. Read. The chief business was the cancellation of the centennial, jamboree and the drafting of a summer programme for the troop. The secretary reported that by recent efforts the financial, position had been considerably strengthened so that there was now a fair sum available for the Christmas camp, which might be held in .another district.

Mr. and Mrs. C. Bradley, with their daughter Merle, have left No. 3 Camp In take up residence at No. 5 Camp.
