WAIKOHU COUNTY ROADS
ENGINEER’S REPORT WORK OF THE MONTH (Speciul to the Herald.) TE KARAKA, this day. The report of the county engineer, Mr. A. G. Lucas, submitted to the Waikohu County Council to-day, included the following:— Motu Riding.—Sufficient steel has come to hand for the piles of the Waiwhero bridge and the council gang has made a start. Waihuka Riding.— Front Road: Watertables have been cleaned out where necessary. Approval has been received from the district engineer for top course metalling of 90 chains. Rakauroa-Tahora Road: Metalling work is still in progress. Hihiroroa Road: A bulldozer has been employed to open up the road between Mr. L. Sherriffs and Mr. F. Sherrill's homesteads. Oliver Road: A survey is in hand for the realignment of approximately 50 chains. Mangatu Riding.—Mangamaia Road: Proposals have been approved .by the district engineer for ohc mile of metalling from 'the creek crossing towards Mr. Barron's homestead.
Waipaoa Riding.-—Tarndale Road: The road has dried up very well and is in good order to grade.
Ngatapa Riding.—Wharekopae Road: Extensive patching has been attended to. Kanakanaia Highway.— Upper Kanakanaia: The navvy is cutting back the slip near Grey’s. Karaka Riding.—Lavenham Road: Grading in of the shingle was carried out.
