GERMANISING POLAND
OBJECTIVE OF NAZIS START IN SCHOOLS S U PPI ;em ENT ARY ARM lES (Reed. Sept. 25, 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 22. A New York Times’ correspondent at Bydgoszcz, says that, while German armies are still on guard in conquered territory in the east to prevent outbreaks of hostility by the Polish population, supplementary armies are already relieving them for the front line and taking over the organisation of these regions.
Those supplementary armies consist mainly of police and labour service men, Nazi party members and innumerable civilians, used for Governmental and economic duties.
They are working under the double motto" of “Reconstruction and Germanisation.”
German names are replacing Polish ones. Commissioners control shops and business firms. German is both the official and prevailing language. All children, whether German or Polish, must attend German-language schools which the Germans claim are the best nationalisation agencies. Schools and German youth organisations are expected to kill Polish national consciousness within a generation. BRITISH FAIR CANCELLED (Reed. Sept. 25, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 23. The Department of Overseas Trade has announced the cancellation of the British Industries Fair, 1940.
