PETROL RATIONING
ACTION IN BRITAIN PLIGHT OF TAXI MEN (Reed. Sept. 25, Noon.) LONDON, Sept. 23. Petrol rationing became effective to-day, and it immediately reduced the number of private cars on the roads. It has handicapped taxi men, whose allowance is two gallons daily. Their trade journal prophesies the workhouse for many elderly drivers. There is little sign of motoring for pleasure on country roads. Picadilly Cirons was almost toare of motor traffic at the peak hour this morning.
