TWO MOTORISTS HURT
WAEREN GA - A -HIK a crash POLE SNAPPED IN TWO Two residents of Tahunga, Mr. and Mrs. G. Hamilton Morice, were injured in a motor accident at Wae-renga-a-hika yesterday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Morice had visited Ormond and after picking up Mr. Harry Cook, Graham road, Ormond, were pn their way home. They proceeded’ along the main road in the direction of Makaraka and the mishap occurred immediately past the Waerenga-a-hika Hotel corner where the vehicle, driven by Mr. Morice, left the road and crashed into a telegraph pole.
The car, a laic model sedan, struck the pole just behind the right front wheel and then slewed round. The force of the impact snapped the 9in. by 9in. hardwood pole 7ft from the ground and the lower section was lifted out of the ground.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Morice received facial injuries, and Mr. Morice is believed to have sustained a broken creek hone, while Mrs. Morice suffered a broken nose and fractured ribs. Mr. Cook, who was in the back seal, escaped unhurl. Extensive damage was done to the ear, the right side being pushed in and the running board on that side ripped off. After receiving medical attention Mr. and Mrs. Morice were conveyed by the SI. John Ambulance to Rostrevor Hospital. Their condition this morning was reported to be more comfortable.
Mr. Morice had been out of hospital only a short time following a motoring accident in Hawke’s Bay threemonths ago. On that occasion he and his daughter were helped from an overturned ear by a passing motorist 1 just before the vehicle burst into flames.
