MELLONS ADOPT SON
PITTSBURGH, Aug. 6. Mr. and Mrs. Richard K. Mellon announced to-day that they had adopted a two-month-old baby, bom of “obscure parents.” 1 Mr. Mellon, titular head of the Mellon clan, is a nephew of the late Mr. Andrew Mellon. By the adoption, the baby, now officially Richard Prosser Mellon, becomes a potential heir to the Mellon empire of banking, steel, coal and aluminum. Neither Mr. Mellon nor his wife, the former Mrs. Constance ProssGr McCaulley, would discuss details of the adoption. They were married in 1930.
