INCREASES ANNOUNCED

NAVAL RATINGS’ PAY DECISION OF GOVERNMENT (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. After consideration of the report of the committee on naval pay, it has been announced by the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, that the Government has approved of a new scale to be effective from June 1 last, involving increases of Hid a day to leading ratings and Is 4d to petty officer and chief petty officer ratings. Warrant officers on promotion receive an increase of Is 6d a day. The three-year rate is increased by Is 3d, the six-year rate bv Is, and the nineyear rate by 9d a day. A superannuation scheme is being introduced to :upersede deferred pay for all ratings joining after January 1, the contributions being 5 per cent pc the pay.
