PASSIVE RESISTANCE
JOHANNESBURG, Aug. 9. The Indian passive resistance movement, which was due to begin on August 1 in the Transvaal, has been postponed for a brief period, although more than 500 Rand Indians had signed a pledge to have themselves arrested if the Union Government persisted in enforcing its Indian legislation. The Passive Resistance Council hopes that the negotiations that are now proceeding will result in an honourable settlement.—Sunday Times.
