Removal of Trees

Sir,—l see in Thursday night’s paper that they are talking of removing that beautiful row of plane trees in the Botanical Gardens. 1 think it is a crying shame as the trees do no one any . pqssible harm. They should not be trimmed either as so rhuch. trimming , spoils . their beauty. I would also suggest to plant aspliii poplars on the new bank in line with the others on tire other side of the footbridge. lam sorry to say thas as soon as trees become tall and beautiful in Gisborne people are clamorous to take them down. Those planes and poplars ought to be left for an ancient landmark. LOVER OF GARDEN.
