DIVORCE DELAY

CASES STAND OVER IN U.K. LONDON. Aug. 1. When tlie Divorce Court judges rise for the Long Vacation more than 1000 divorce suits will have to be carried over until the next law term, which starts in October. Although the judges have been working at high pressure since the term began on June 6, they have been hampered in their efforts to keep down arrears. The Thetis inquiry has occupied Mr. Justice Bueknill for nearly three weeks, while Sir Boyd Merriman, president of the division, has been dealing with jury suits and appeals from local magistrates. Admiralty work has caused further delay. The term opened with a total of 2016 divorce cases, including arrears.
