Owing to the present crisis, the Eilerslie jockey R. W. McTavish has had to cancel his trip to Melbourne, where he was to have ridden tor a leading stable under a retainer. McTavish rode in fine torm at. the Avondale Jockey Ciub’s spring mee'ing, and his Auckland patrons will no doubt be glad that he is remaining in the Dominion, especially as there is a dearth of good horsemen at present. heading Sire The leading sire at the Avondale Jockey Club’s meeting was Hunting Song, with three winners, his successful representatives being Meadow, Hunto and Sly Fox. Those who scored two winners were Vaals (Our Jean aipd Lovaals), Foxbridge iFoxmond and Foxtoonl and Lapidary, sire of the dual winner Erndale. Other sires successfully represented were Raceful, Night Raid, Peach Brandy, Bronze Eagle, Beau Pere, Autopay, Illumination. and Muskctoon.
