CAGE BIRD SHOWS
TOTAL OF 600 EXHIBITS SOI!ETY’ S OPERATIONS ANNUAL MEETING HELD A successful year's activities was reviewed by the chairman, Mr. J. Lyle, in presenting the annual report of the Poverty Bay Budgerigar and Cage Bird Society at last evening’s annual meeting. There was a good attendance at the meeting. The chairman also mentioned that the exhibits at the society's shows during the year totalled COO, and of that number 400 birds were shown in the July show held in conjunction with the Poultry Association. The financial statement showed that the society was in a sound financial position and that a large quantity of equipment had been acquired during the year. The total income was £96 and the assets aggregated £l5O. The thanks of the club were extended to the lady members for their great assistance. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Dr. W. A. Bowie; president. Mr. J. Lyle; vice-presidents, Mesdames B. Wilcox, McFadyen, and JS. Beattie. Messrs. P. Elliott’, R. Chalmers, J. K. Popple. F. Duckworth; B. Adair, H. Holmes, D. S. Thompson, H. H. De Costa. E. Wilkinson, A. S’.oneham, W. Bailey and A. Cox; committee, Mesdames J. S. Beattie, B. Wilcox, S. Jackson, and J. Hutchins, Messrs. E. Cook, J. Hutchins, A. Livingstone, L. Illingworth, and S. Jackson; hon. secretary, Mr. J. W. Pennv; hon. assistant-secretary, Mr. H. Holdsworth; hon. . treasurer, Mr. G. B. Carter.
Members of the ciub displayed keen interest in the proposed activities for the coming year, which should include a young bird show in January.
